Dr. Wai earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in 1984. Prior to that, he obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from University of California San Francisco. Dr. Wai is certified by the American Osteopathic Association family practice board and is a member of American Osteopathic Association.

In 2007, Dr. Wai completed a fulltime 4-year Master of Chinese Medicine program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Recognized as one of the most comprehensive programs for study of Chinese Medicine, it included a one-year clinical training in mainland China. Dr. Wai is licensed by the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Deer Valley Medical in 2008, Dr. Wai was in private practice in Phoenix. He was also a staff physician at the Phoenix General Hospital urgent care center.

Dr. Wai practices both family medicine and integrative medicine at Deer Valley Medical. He is on staff at both Phoenix hospitals of John C. Lincoln Health Network: Deer Valley Hospital and North Mountain Hospital.
