Dr. Planting earned his medical degree from the University Autonoma of Guadalajara in Mexico in 1970 and completed his internship at Regina General Hospital in Regina, Canada. He also completed residencies in pediatrics and family practice at the University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.

Dr. Planting began his family practice in 1973 and later gained extensive experience in emergency medicine. Dr. Planting also practiced family and emergency medicine as a major in the U.S. Air Force. He speaks fluent Spanish.

Dr. Planting joined Deer Valley Medical in 2007. He is on staff at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital.
